About Me
The Person
I am a twenty-three year old graduate student at Old Dominion University (ODU) in pursuit of my Master's in English. I am on track to graduate by the end of the summer semester at the end of August 2026. I hope to join a great company or organization soon after graduation to get started on my career and professional development. I would ideally join an organization dedicated to environmental advocacy, but I also hold a deep passion for other vocational work involving social justice and human rights.
My love for the environment began in my youth. I spent a majority of my time as a child outdoors photographing the nature around me, studying the bugs that crawled from the earth, running with my dogs bare-foot in creek streams, and hiking Virginia's mountains and trails. These early experiences cemented a deep connection to the environment for me at an early age, and I still enjoy all of these activities as a young adult. My interest in social justice and human rights stems from my identity as a trans, nonbinary individual. There is much that I could say about the queer experience in the United States at this time, but what I believe is important to say is that, with my own experiences and those of people I consider dear to me, I believe in the power of representation and equitable treatment that I can be a part of bringing about through my professional work.
Outside of work and education, I dabble in photography (particularly nature photography) and art. I also enjoy plant care, terrarium creation, reptile and invertebrate husbandry, reading, and enjoying the outdoors with my dog.
The Professional
As a technical communicator, I have found my strengths in an involved, ground-up approach to document creation that is tailored to audience needs and experience without sacrificing organization style. Everything from visual organization and design, to illustration, color choice, accessibility, and other user experience considerations are elements that I incorporate into my work to produce the best product possible for both the users and the organizational entity I create it for.
